About the Author

Welcome to Blessed in Joy and Devotion! I’m Jessica Beason, and I’m so glad you’re here.

At 39 years old, though I was raised in west Tennessee, I call Hampton Roads, Virginia, home. I’m a proud mom to two amazing daughters: Bailey, my spirited 16-year-old, and Valerie, my sweet 6-year-old. They are the heart and soul of my world, and they keep life vibrant and full of love. Life with teenagers and little ones under the same roof can be a challenge, but it’s also an incredible blessing—one I wouldn’t trade for anything.

I am also incredibly blessed to have met the love of my life. He’s my partner, my best friend, and a wonderful father to his two beautiful daughters. While we haven’t blended our families yet, we’re working toward creating a life filled with love, laughter, and shared dreams.

My life has been anything but a straight path. I’ve been married and divorced, moved across state lines four times, and faced my fair share of trials. I know what it’s like to be a broke, single mom working as a waitress, barely making ends meet. I’ve stared down the weight of tens of thousands of dollars in credit card debt and struggled with ADHD, which has made maintaining a clutter-free home a constant battle. But I’ve also experienced the joy of turning life around. Recently, I found Jesus and established a deep relationship with God, and it has transformed everything. My faith has brought clarity, peace, and purpose to my life.

When we’re not at home, you can often find my girls and me traveling down to the Outer Banks (OBX) in North Carolina, where the ocean soothes our souls and sparks endless adventures. We also love spending weekends camping in our pop-up camper, making s’mores by the fire and exploring new places. Closer to home, we frequent Busch Gardens and Water Country in Williamsburg, fill our Sundays with worship at church, and enjoy cozy family game nights that always end in laughter.

I started this blog, Blessed in Joy and Devotion, as a way to share the lessons I’ve learned through life’s ups and downs, as well as the joys and adventures of living a life rooted in faith, family, and love. Whether it’s tips for decluttering your home, ideas for camping trips with kids, or reflections on faith and family, my hope is that these stories and insights inspire you to live your life to the fullest.

I’m not here to present a perfect picture. I’m just a mom, a woman, and a child of God, navigating life’s challenges and blessings one day at a time—just like you. Let’s learn, laugh, and grow together on this journey.

If you’d like to connect, share your story, or have questions, you can reach me anytime at [email protected]. I’d love to hear from you.

Thank you for being here. Let’s walk this path of joy and devotion together.
